We Are Silent
On Friday, April 24th the ACT Club will be inviting the entire school to take a vow of silence for anyone who's voice is not being heard. As stated by Free the Children, "Around the world, there are those whose voices are not heard. They are the girls who are denied an education because of gender inequality, school fees, or the need to stay home and care for younger siblings. They are the child laborers or the children growing up in poverty. They are the students who are bullied at your school. Everyone of them has a voice that needs to be heard. Take a silent stand so they can speak out."
ACTivists are asking for a $5 donation to commit to your silence. Students officially participating in the fundraiser will receive and exclusive 2015 We Are Silent badge. All donations will go toward ACT Club Global's goal of building a school in Sierra Leone, Africa, and ACT Club Local's selected homeless charities: StandUp for Kids and Homeless Prenatal.

We Volunteer Now
Crittenden was asked by Free the Children to pilot a new campaign called We Volunteer Now! Through this campaign, during the week of April 13 - April 17, our ACTivists volunteered throughout our community, mostly in the local elementary schools. This week of local action culminated in a community clean up field trip to Rengstorff Park.
Homeless Awareness
This year, our ACT Club Local Cohort has decided to fundraise and bring awareness to the issue of homelessness. In January, we hosted a lunch time campaign to raise awareness around homelessness. For this campaign, we collect statistics about the homeless and held our signs on the blacktop for all students to see.
We have also been collecting coins through our We Create Change campaign. Half of the money collected will go towards two local homelessness charities that the club has selected: Homeless Prenatal and Stand Up for Kids!
Cantoberfest
Cantoberfest was our fall canned food drive! Partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank, we donated over 2,000 cans!
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
At the start of the school year, ACT Club Local collected votes to have teachers participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. We sold votes for $0.50 each, and made a little over $100. We donated this money to the ALS Association.
